Neuromuscular Dentistry

Solving painful problems through scientific procedures…

What is Neuromuscular Dentistry? Why is it so important? More Information

What is Neuromuscular Dentistry?

Neuromuscular Dentistry is an approach that seeks to improve the relationship between muscles and nerves, and the teeth and joints. It is a concern for the dynamic relationship between the joints’ range of motion and physical posturing. Determining your correct jaw position is a scientific process and involves measuring muscle function. Through this process we can determine proper jaw posture, movement and optimal resting posture. Dr. Chapman is specially trained in neuromuscular dentistry and can help you harmonize these crucial relationships.

Why is it so important?

When the relationship between teeth, facial muscles and jaw joints is out of balance, it is easy to develop painful complications. This is technically known as TMJ or TMD (Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction), and can cause severe head and neck pain. The proper treatment of these disorders can reduce or eliminate pain and also actually improve the look of your facial structure.
